Ao Nang is situated in the Krabi Province of Southern Thailand. Around 10 minutes from Krabi town, it’s a starting point to various island tours and boat excursions to destinations such as Phi Phi, Phuket, Railay and beyond. There are plenty of agents to organise these and most guest houses will have information and prices and can organise this.
The beach front has many restaurants and bars to cater for a variety of tastes, and if massages are your thing, you can have a relaxing full body massage lasting an hour for around 150-200 Baht (£3-4).

Accommodation in Ao Nang
We stayed at a great hotel called the Goodwill, based just on the hill down to the beach front which was a 5 minute stroll. There is plenty of options of places to stay for all budgets. Check out some hotel sites on Booking.com for latest prices. You can pick up a bargain once there and shop around going door to door.
Things to do in Ao Nang
There were plenty of shops around to buy souvenir’s, tailors and of course massages which were in abundance. With it’s large beach-front on the coast of the Andaman sea, there’s many dive sites situated around the islands
For the foodies there and various restaurants catering for original Tahi dishes from Pad Thai to Pizza. A Tuk Tuk back up the hill cost about 20 Baht if the heats too much to bare. The night life is in abundance and plenty a watering hole to quench you thirst, be it reggae themed bars with live music to cocktail bars along the beach-front, there’s something for every taste.

Railay Beach
Just around the next Bay is Railay beach, with it’s limestone cliffs jutting out from the Anderman sea that many a rock climber attempt to scale, and some great beach front accommodations to offer. From here a return journey costs approximately 100 baht (£2). Check out our post on Railay for more details.

The scenery here is breath-taking, and well worth a visit. The beach has a few restaurants lined amongst palm fringed open waters, where kayaks can be hired, along with other boat trips.
Transport and onward Travel
Arriving in Krabi airport, you have various options depending on budget. The airport bus is 100 baht into Krabi Town or 150 baht to Ao Nang.
If you walk outside of the airport you will be able to pickup a songthaew from 30-50 baht. This will get you to central Krabi to the 7-11 at the vogue mall.
A bus to Bangkok will take 12 hours and costs around 500 baht. A flight will cost around 1100 b and takes One hour and 20 minutes. We took the flight option as 12 hours to save 10 pounds doesn’t add up to me.
