2 month update from India
Greetings! Well it’s been a busy 2 months for us since we departed the UK in November 2019 bound for India. All our plans have come together and we’re both excited to begin this incredible journey that’s ahead of us. It’s going to be a special moment in our lives that we’ll have memories of which will last forever.
Fortunately we landed on our feet within 5 days of arriving in India, after first staying in Palolem South Goa at a bolt-hole hotel we’d used before. We got very lucky, and a recommendation from our now new found friends knew someone with a vacancy within a small complex. He showed us a great apartment on the edge of Patnem, & just 5 minutes from the beach. We knew the area well from previous visits and it’s ideal for us. It’s local to Chaudi, a small village and all it’s amenities to hand such as banking & shops. We’ve settled in great and have not had any problems and the apartment could be a keeper for next season when we return in November.
Home sweet home

Once we’d settled into our new home, we decided to have a 2 month break and get through the peak season unscathed before we started to explore. December can get busy with locals & tourists visiting so decided to chill until after then. Well deserved especially after the 18 months we had had prior to our departure.
We’ve visited Polem beach down on the Goa/Karnataka state border by scooter, and revisited Galgibag,Talpona & Rajbag beach. We also scooted up and visited Agonda to see if it had changed since our last visit 5 years ago.

To our amazement, we also come across a new route across from Patnem to Palolem that we didn’t know existed. It’s such a scenic walk and beautiful views across to Palolem we were surprised we hadn’t found it on our previous visits to the area. Neptune point is a lovely hidden cove with turquoise seas and a few restaurants that’s accessed via some rocks just by Colomb Bay. It’s a beautiful location, quiet, peaceful & has an amazing outlook across to Palolem & Monkey island. We still can’t believe we had missed the cut through as on the walk over the rocks we came across a restaurant we had visited many times, only 50 feet away on the other side of the bay.

Up next
In the next few weeks we’ll start an open ended tour of North Goa. We have no timescale and we’re looking forward to checking out some new places. We’ll start from Querim on the Maharashtra state border through to Arambol, Morjim & Anjuna. We’ll then head further South through Baga and knock off the 30 odd miles we haven’t checked out in the South. If we like any places we’ll have the odd night stay as we explore the different resorts.

We also have a trip planned to visit Gokarna across the state border into Karnataka. There are a few places we want to visit there, one being the Shiva statue at Murudeshwara temple. It’s set on the coast in a holy complex that attracts visitors from across India on pilgrimage and it looks amazing. Watch out for our post once we have visited.

Off to Mumbai
We have Plenty of adventures ahead once we set off for Mumbai at the end of March. We’ll be exploring more of the Colaba causeway & the gateway to India and also The Elephanta caves. This is an UNESCO World Heritage Site that are based 10 KM from Mumbai harbour and are dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
After this we then venture for a quick jaunt to Aurangabad in Mahārāshtra. We have organised a tour guide based here to visit the Ellora & Ajanta caves. We’ve got our flight booked from here to New Delhi where we have an onward flight to head to Vietnam.
Good Morning Vietnam
We’re be heading off to Vietnam for 2 months and travelling through from Hanoi to Ho Chi Ming city. We’ll be checking out Hue & Hoi An before heading through Singapore en-route to 2 more months in Bali Indonesia. We then have no plans for 3 months, but will cut through more of Malaysia to head back through to Nepal and into Northern India in September & October. Eventually heading back into Goa by November.

Great to hear that things are going well.
Your routing is fascinating & keeps inspiring us. Would suggest that you splash a bit of cash & have an overnight in Halong Bay whilst on the Vietnam leg.
Our plans are still up in the air, we’re toying with the idea of not over planning and just buying a return ticket to either Bangkok or Kuala Lumpar then travelling around from there for approx 6 months. Only part agreed is some time in Bhutan at the start of our trip.
