Mobor is located just past Cavelossim in South Goa. Following the road through Cavelossim you will arrive at the Holiday Inn resort that dominates the area. If you turn left and follow the quiet road you will run parallel with the river Sal. This road leads to a few restaurants, one being the Blue Whale at Betul beach. If at the holiday inn you turn right then this leads you down to the prestigious Mobor beach. It’s a relaxed setting of 3 restaurants, one being Vernon’s, and their food was worth a second visit. This is a very laid back area, and a great location to stroll down to Cavelossim from. If feeling energetic, it’s about 1 hour along the beach.

Along through Cavelossim is a stretch of empty beach that leads you down to Carmona, and a 90 minute stroll brings you to the small quiet resort with a few accommodation options and a handful of restaurants. Very relaxed vibe, so bring your kindle and iPod and settle down for an afternoon of sun.

Accommodation

We stayed at the Veeniola hotel in Carmona, a 10 minute stroll behind the beach.  This place if on a budget is the pick of the bunch, and if staying longer than a few days, prices are negotiable at about £10 per night. They have a restaurant and though a limited menu, the food here is excellent and reasonably priced.

We enjoyed our stay here and this was greatly down to the small team of staff. You can arrange scooters, taxi’s and a wealth of information from the owners, and also has a Restaurant/Bar serving many dishes for breakfast and evening meals. From here you can explore the surroundings, with Cavelossim on your doorstep around a 30 minute walk, or scooter down to Colva around 10 minutes or into Margao.

Local places to visit

Agonda is a 30 minute ride across the Assolna/Cavelossim bridge down past the Cabo de Rama Fort. It’s a nice ride through the mountains and a few local villages. 20 minutes further and you will hit Palolem and Patnem beaches.

Cabo de Rama fort is one of the oldest and largest in Goa and is situated 15km North of Agonda in Canacona, South Goa. It is close to the mouth of the river Sal and is known locally as the Cape of Rama.

Cola beach is situated 7 km from Agonda beach and has a beautiful secluded bay that also has it’s own lagoon. It’s a worth while side trip if visiting this area and a short journey of around 20 minutes along the beach road.
