The Republic of Maldives archipelago is located in the Indian Ocean and consist of 26 natural Atolls and is set South west of Mainland India and Sri Lanka. The capital Malé is also known traditionally as “Kings island”. The separate islands are typically palm fringed with golden sands, idyllic and a paradise for relaxation.
Club Faru Maldives
Our choice of stay was Club Faru, situated a 20-30 minute boat ride from the Airport, and was based on great reviews, mostly for their choice of menu for our 2 week stay. Accommodation consisted of Two storey buildings, set amongst the palm fringed beaches, with direct access from your room. On arrival you are served welcome drinks, checked in and shown your room all within 15 minutes. You are also allocated a room boy, who will clean, bring water and get anything you require. He also messes up your bed with flowers. Don’t forget to leave him a few dollars when you depart.

There were also free activities that you can get involved in, such as table tennis, pool table, sea kayak and also free snorkeling excursion. If you didn’t bring your own gear then snorkelling mask and fins can be rented at the water sports centre and the boat takes you out 2 times a day at 10am and 3pm. There is also open water diver training you can sign up for if that’s your bag. There is a large collection of books in the recreational area, along with games and where the pool and table tennis tables are located, right next to the infinity pool.
Based on the resort is a sanctuary come spa that does aromatherapy massages, Balinese style massages and Swedish massages. We booked up for a 2 week discounted course which consisted of these, and have never felt so relaxed in my life, and walked away from each session feeling rejuvenated and in need of cold refreshment.
A day trip to the Capital Malé was included, but consisted of being shown around tourist shops, and was a waste of 2 hours, and not really worth anyone’s time.
Club Faru Jetty Maldives
If you’re after a relaxing and chilled vacation, then two weeks here will definitely recharge your batteries. Remember to take along plenty of sunscreen, kindle, mp3 player and you will be set for 2 weeks of bliss. There is a shop on the island but it’s quite over priced.

Onward flights are cheap especially through Skyscanner. Sri Lanka and Southern India are on your doorstep to extend your trip.
